Kalbar Operations Pty Ltd, the developer of the Fingerboards Mineral Sands Project, in East Gippsland, Victoria, is pleased to announce the appointment of mining executive Jozsef Patarica as its Chief Executive Officer commencing end of April.
Mr Patarica has almost 30 years mining industry experience in Australia, West Africa and South America. He has held senior operational and project development roles across a range of mining projects, both in terms of scale and minerals.
Kalbar Chairman, Dr Brad Farrell said: “Jozsef Patarica brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Kalbar team. Jozsef’s project development and operational experience will bring great value to the Fingerboards Project and East Gippsland, as we move into the development phase of the project to ultimately become a significant mineral sands producer in the world.”
Mr Patarica will relocate to Bairnsdale from Bendigo where he developed the world class Fosterville Gold Mine. He also has a strong background in mineral sands, having been the CEO of the Grande Cote Mineral Operation in Senegal, West Africa.
Mr Patarica’s Australian mining experience encompasses developing and operating mines for Newcrest Mining in country NSW, Placer Dome Asia Pacific on the west coast of Tasmania, and mines in regional Western Australia. His overseas mining experience has been in Senegal, West Africa, Norway and Chile, South America.
Current CEO Dr Victor Hugo will transition the role to Mr Patarica in coming weeks and continue in a consultancy role for the company.
